This morning I found out that just as we have weather forecasters, we now have professionals that report a daily “Covid Positivity Rate” percentage. A group of men I meet with were trying to determine if we were going to meet tomorrow and one of our leads wrote in a text message, “Predicted snow starting around 7, covid positivity was 12.5% yesterday. Recommend zoom only.” I was floored. I couldn’t believe what I was reading and had to search the internet. Yep, it was there in the search results, a “Covid positivity rate” forecast!
As I had my Bible reading this morning, I read from Luke 11 where Jesus was saying to the crowds, “When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming,’ and so it turns out. And when you see a south wind blowing, you say, ‘It will be a hot day,’ and it turns out that way. You hypocrites! You know how to analyze the appearance of the earth and the sky, but why do you not analyze this present time?” (vss. 54-56)
Men today can create metrics to measure the weather and now they’ve even created a, “Covid positivity rate”. However, they still cannot and, sadly, will not analyze this present time when immorality and lawlessness abound and where all the “signs” point to the soon return of the Lord and King, Jesus Christ, in judgment.
Earlier in Luke chapter 11 Jesus says, “Do you suppose that I came to grant peace on earth? I tell you, no, but rather division; for from now on five members in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”
Certainly, this “sign” is happening all around us as the King’s citizens, who look to the Bible for instruction, and obey those instructions, have a biblical morality which cuts against what the world believes. The world forces on its citizens concerning gender and marriage and sexuality. Government leaders forces on their citizens shutdowns, vaccines and now mandates. When the Covid-19 coronavirus first hit churches were forced to close or severely scale back their attendance, while the “big box” stores, wine and liquor establishments, and drug and abortion clinics were allowed to remain open.
This was not an oversight by government leadership; it was an overreach and in many respects discrimination, perhaps persecution. Looking at what has been taking place against the church and her leaders in other nations like Canada and Australia, and considering that we haven’t heard much of a peep from our political leaders here in the United States, I think that it is just a matter of time when we will see this kind of abuse take place on our soil.
